Amateur Radio members helping to raise funds for Cancer Relay for Life 2009
UNIARM and members of amateur radio helping to raise funds for Cancer relay for life 2009. A check for $3,000 was presented to National Cancer Society of Malaysia to their Chairman Dato’ Zuraidah Atan on the 19 of May 2009 donated by friends of United Amateur Radio Malaysia. We are still collecting money for this even until the event day. Kindly contact us and we will record your donation on our pledge cards. Those members also wanting to help collect donations please give your names. Look forward to see you all on the 30 May and do spread the word around.
Lets us give support for this all night event as cancer never sleeps! ………………..By being there is already supporting.

Helping K9 and puppies left abandon

If you wish to help these furry friends left abandon in an island.
About 300 stray dogs were rounded up by Pulau Ketam residents and deported to an isolated island to fend for themselves. Over half of them are already dead and the remaining ones may not live long. A rescue mission is being mounted and your help is needed.

SEGAMAT KECIL REVISITED - 12 SEPT 2009 BUKA PUASA
Its been 3 years since our convoy of 15 vehicles from united amateur radios KL delivered donated goods during the johor flood 2007. The kampung has done well now with assistance from government and private sector . Houses relocated and some on stilts.
Come join us for buka puasa on the 12 Sept Saturday . All invited . Non muslims and SWL.
Tok Batin has something special for us to buka puasa there.

What about Influenza A (H1N1)?
Influenza A (H1N1) is a highly contagious acute respiratory disease caused by Type A influenza virus’ strain H1N1. The virus is spread by aerosol, direct and indirect contact. Transmission has been documented limited to close contacts and close groups of people. Currently, cases of Influenza A have been reported in many countries such as United States, Australia, Indonesia and other countries including Malaysia.
When is the infectious period of the disease? The infectious period for a confirmed case of Influenza A virus infection is defined as 1 day prior to the case’s illness onset to 7 days after onset.
What is its mode of transmission? * Respiratory droplets * Direct contact (skin or fomites)
What are the signs and symptoms of the disease? * Fever AND any of the following stmptoms * Cough * Sore throat * Body ache * Headache
Other symptoms include : * Chills * Fatigue * Vomiting * Diarrhoea
What are the case definitions ? * Confirmed case: A person with an acute febrile respiratory illness with laboratory confirmed Influenza A (H1N1) virus infection by one or more of the following tests: o Real time RT-PCR o Viral culture o Four-fold rise influenza A (H1N1) virus specific neutralizing antibodies.
* Suspected case: A Patient Under Investigation of Influenza A / H1N1 virus infection is defined as an individual presenting with 1. fever , AND 2. One or more of the following respiratory symptoms: cough, sore throat, body ache, difficulty in breathing, AND 3. One or more of the following: close contact with a person diagnosed as Influenza A/H1N1 OR within 7 days of travel to an area reporting cases of confirmed Influenza A/H1N1 (within 7 days of exposure / contact)
Other Definitions * Acute febrile respiratory illness: Fever >38°C and recent onset of at least one of the following: rhinorrhoea or nasal congestion, sore throat, or cough. * Close contact: a person having cared for, lived with, or had direct contact with respiratory secretions or body fluids of a probable or confirmed case of Influenza A (H1N1).
